| Leather has always been used to give the feeling of luxury to automobiles, home furnishings, clothing, luggage, handbags, and personal accessories. The look, smell and feel of quality leather goods have been enjoyed by millions of people for centuries. Those "character lines", so typical of luxurious leather, not only certify leather’s authenticity, but give it a unique richness and a graceful maturity. Eventually, without proper care, leather will lose its resiliency and begin to dull and harden, allowing those unique "character lines" to crack beyond repair but with proper care leather can be enjoyed for an infinite amount of time. Leather is a skin and is exposed to similar deterioration to that of human skin if not properly cleaned and nourished on a regular basis. Regardless of the type of leather, through an aging and wearing process leather can lose its rich luster, distinctive scent and unmatched durability. As leather ages it tends to lose the natural oils that keep it so soft and supple. The dryer and harder the leather gets considerably increases its exposure to wrinkles, cracks and crevices. Although most leather products, such as seats in an automobile or leather sofa, are regularly exposed to dust and dirt, the increased number of cracks and crevices now act as a collecting place for contaminants. Once dirt becomes embedded into the leather surface, its tiny, sharp edges begin to cut into the wrinkles. Eventually, with enough dirt build up and wear, these wrinkles, cracks and crevices will split and tear the leather surface. Over the years many products have entered the market claiming to provide ideal cleaning and conditioning value for leather surfaces and some actually do work well. Then there are some of them that make claims of being a cleaner and conditioner in one. Be skeptical on any product making such a claim as it is virtually impossible to have a product that can properly emulsify (clean and dissolve)dirt and body oils from a leather seat or jacket, etc., and then replenish the essential oils and nutrients necessary to return a soft and supple surface. THE GLIPTONE SPRAY LEATHER CLEANER AND CONDITIONER PRODUCTS have been designed to safely restore and maintain all types of leather to a rich, luxurious suppleness, un- matched by any other products on the market. Spray Leather Cleaner and Conditioner products are made from a unique blend of all natural ingredients that combine to offer a pH neutral, safe and effective treatment for all types of Leather surfaces. An additional benefit associated with the Gliptone brand of Spray Leather Cleaner and Conditioner is that these products will also restore that fresh new leather essence back into the surface, leaving your leather looking and smelling like new! Gliptone Spray Leatherproducts are used or sold internationally by: Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Ferrari (Maranello Concessionaires), Aston Martin, some of the largest furniture manufacturers and retailers including World of Leather, plus most of the "CE" accredited made to measure motorcycle leather clothing manufacturers. Gliptone Spray Leather products are the only products recommended by the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club’s Interior Care and Renovation Seminars. The Process: It is important to insure that your leather surface is thoroughly cleaned prior to conditioning. Even for new condition leather it is important to make some effort to ensure your leather surface is perfectly clean and free of any dust or contaminants. Dampen (DO NOT SATURATE!) a household sponge with warm water, then proceed to pour two quarter-size droplets of Spray Leather Cleaner onto the sponge. Rub the sponge with your fingers, creating a rich lather on the surface. Proceed to gently wipe down the leather surface, giving extra attention to crevices where dirt has settled. In some instances, involving sofas or automobile seating, that is heavily soiled it may be necessary to use a soft nailbrush with the Spray Leather Cleaner applied directly onto the bristles. Using a gentile stirring motion, stir the cleaner into the surface (DO NOT SCRUB AGGRESSIVELY WITH THE NAILBRUSH). Repeat process as many as 3 times to achieve desired result. Finally, wipe down area with a CLEAN, LIGHTLY DAMPENED cotton towel. Sometimes leather may be worn to the point of giving the appearance of being dirty. Even the most aggressive scrubbing will not get this type of surface clean and therefore should be avoided. Avoid over scrubbing during the cleaning process! Spray Leather Cleaner is pH neutral and will not damage or pull color from the leather surface. If there are any signs of color degradation during the cleaning process this could be an indication that the factory varnish coat has worn off or this leather surface has been previously scrubbed with an aggressive detergent that has weakened the coated surface. |
